Haakaa has helped many mums on their breastfeeding journey with trusted baby products. Like Haakaa’s manual breast pump, which is an award-winning best-selling and easy to use breast pump made from 100% food grade silicone, and BPA, PVC and phthalate-free. All Haakaa breastfeeding products are high quality, safe and comfortable to use. Other loved Haakaa nursing and baby products include milk collectors, baby bottles, nipple shields, silicone teethers, toothbrushes and more.
The Haakaa manual breast pump
The Haakaa manual breast pump is made out of 100% food grade silicone and is a favourite among breastfeeding mums and lactation consultants because it is budget-friendly, easy to use and does all the work for you. It is also compact, easy to clean and BPA, PVC and phthalate-free – making it a must-have for breastfeeding mums.
A manual breast pump like Haakaa is also ideal for travel and night feeds because you don’t have to hook up to a mechanical pump. Haakaa’s automatic suction design means it does all the work for you!
Soft Haakaa silicone breast pump which is comfortable to use
The Haakaa manual breast pump is made from a single piece of 100% food grade soft silicone making it especially soft and comfortable to use. Simply suction the pump to your breast and let the pump draw the milk using suction.
Secure silicone breast pump with suction base
Just attach the Haakaa pump to your breast and let it do the rest. After you’ve sterilised your breast pump for 3-5 minutes, place the pump flange over your nipple, which should be comfortably centred in the neck of the pump (you may need to adjust the position a couple of times). To make breastfeeding a bit easier, and to promote letdown, place a warm flannel cloth on top of your breast and gently massage.
Letting the pump do all the work
Once the pump is comfortable and secure, to start the flow of breastmilk, squeeze the base of the pump to apply suction. Once milk begins to flow, you can relax as the pump does its work. When the pump is full, empty your milk into a glass storage bottle and reposition. If the flow of milk slows or you’ve expressed your desired amount, place the suction base on a flat surface and cover with breast pump cap. To catch precious milk that may be lost in a breast pad, the Haakaa pump can also be used on your other breast while your child is feeding.
Haakaa breast pump fits perfectly
The Haakaa breast pump accommodates different breast sizes and because it’s made from soft silicone, it is soft and comfortable to use. With no attachments, and being one single piece, simply place it on your breast. For the best results in using all new products, it’s best to read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Also fits perfectly into your handbag or baby bag
With no electric cords or batteries needed, the Haakaa manual breast pump is small, portable and convenient, and fits perfectly into your handbag or baby bag. With its compact size, it is also super-convenient for mums on the move, making expressing and breastfeeding less stressful and much easier. The Haakaa suction base also prevents accidental spills from happening.
Keeping your products clean
It is essential to always clean baby feeding products after every use. For the Haakaa breast pump, sterilize with any steam sterilising system or by boiling in water for 3-5 minutes. The Haakaa breast pump is safe in microwaves, dishwashers, boiling water and sterilisers. To ensure a longer lifespan of your pump, do not use bleach-based agents, sterilising tablets or UV sterilisers. Use soft bristle brushes or soft sponges to clean.
Use a soft bristle brush
To make cleaning easy and efficient, use a soft bristle brush to clean your Haakaa bottles. Soft bristle brushes won’t scratch the surface of your product which means that your item will look new and last for longer.
Avoid UV sterilisers to clean your pump
To ensure that your Haakaa product lasts for longer, don’t use bleach-based agents, sterilising tablets or UV sterilisers to clean your pump. Bleach-based agents or sterilising tablets can affect clarity of your product and UV sterilisers can make silicone sticky and unusable over time.

Frequently Asked Questions about Haakaa baby products:
How does the Haakaa work?
The Haakaa manual breast pump uses natural suction to express milk. Simply place the pump flange over your nipple -- which should be centred comfortably in the neck of the pump. To start the flow of milk, apply suction by squeezing the base of the pump (you may need to reposition the pump a couple of times). When milk begins to flow, leave the pump to do all the work for you and then just transfer it into your babies preferred bottle!
What is the purpose of a Haakaa?
The Haakaa silicone breast pump is designed to make nursing easier for breastfeeding mums. It can be used to express milk discreetly, quickly and quietly, using the power of natural suction without loud noises of an electronic pump. It can also be used to catch milk if need be while bub is feeding on the other breast. The Haakaa manual breast pump is easy and comfortable to use and easy to clean. With no cords and attachments, it is also portable, compact and fits neatly into your hand bag or baby bag.
Do you squeeze the Haakaa?
Once the pump is comfortable and secure on your breast, squeeze the base of the pump to apply suction and start the flow of milk. Once milk begins to flow, you can relax as the pump does the rest for you.
Can you use a Haakaa instead of pumping?
While the Haakaa is used by breastfeeding mums in conjunction with feeding, it can also be used on its own and instead of pumping. Because its gentle suction stimulates letdown, the Haakaa can help to build your freezer stash of liquid gold! The Haakaa can also be used together with an electric pump to maximise your milk results.
